Meet Annah

Sussannah “Annah” Johnsen is an experienced pediatric speech-language pathologist with eight years of experience providing individualized speech therapy for children. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Florida State University and her master’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Central Florida. Based in Burlingame, California, Annah provides pediatric speech therapy in her private office and serves families throughout San Mateo County and surrounding Peninsula communities.

Throughout her career, Annah has worked in a variety of pediatric settings as a speech therapist, mentor, and clinical supervisor. Her professional background includes early intervention, pediatric private practice, school-based speech therapy, and community-based services, giving her a comprehensive understanding of the different environments in which children develop and use their communication skills. This diverse clinical background allows Annah to approach each child from a well-rounded perspective and create individualized speech therapy plans based on each child’s unique needs.

Annah has significant clinical experience providing assessment and treatment for pediatric speech sound disorders, including articulation disorders, phonological disorders, and Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS). She provides specialized speech therapy for children with speech sound disorders, helping children improve speech clarity, sound production, motor planning, and overall intelligibility.

Annah is also passionate about early intervention speech therapy for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. She has a particular interest in working with late talkers and children with language delays, as well as children with expressive language disorders, receptive language disorders, and mixed receptive-expressive language difficulties. Her early intervention approach focuses on supporting functional communication and building foundational speech and language skills during these critical early years.

In addition to her work with young children, Annah provides pediatric speech therapy for school-age children, including children who benefit from support with speech sounds, language development, and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). She has collaborated closely with families, educators, and other professionals to support children across settings and promote meaningful communication at home, at school, and in the community.

Annah previously served on the preschool assessment team for the San Mateo-Foster City School District. This experience gave her a strong understanding of school-based speech therapy, preschool assessments, educational services, and the ways speech and language skills can impact a child’s participation in the classroom.

Annah is an active member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and holds professional speech-language pathology licenses in California and Georgia. She regularly pursues continuing education and advanced training to expand her clinical knowledge and provide evidence-based speech therapy services for children.

As a pediatric speech-language pathologist, Annah believes that effective speech therapy should be individualized to the child, not a one-size-fits-all approach. Whether a child has a language delay, is a late talker, has an articulation or phonological disorder, has a speech sound disorder, or needs specialized support for Childhood Apraxia of Speech, Annah brings a thoughtful, individualized approach to every child and family she serves.
